Thomas Frank
Thomas Frank has opted for a robust Tottenham Hotspur side as they prepare to face League One team Doncaster Rovers in the Carabao Cup third round. Despite making seven changes to the team, Spurs aim to maintain their unbeaten streak since the international break, which includes victories over West Ham United and Villarreal, followed by a comeback draw against Brighton.
Thomas Frank said: “We’ve named a strong line-up to face Rovers, who are seventh in League One and feature our on-loan youngster Damola Ajayi.”
Tottenham’s squad for the match sees the absence of Randal Kolo Muani and Ben Davies due to a dead leg and twisted knee, respectively. Dominic Solanke and Kota Takai are also unavailable despite having returned to training. Antonin Kinsky takes the goalkeeper position for this tie, while Xavi Simons, Djed Spence, Brennan Johnson, and Mathys Tel, who were substitutes at the Amex Stadium, are included in the starting eleven.
Thomas Frank added: “There is no Cristian Romero in the squad, with teenager Archie Gray playing in midfield and Joao Palhinha in central defence alongside Austria international Kevin Danso.”
The squad also features young talents, with 16-year-olds Jun’ai Byfield and Luca Williams-Barnett, and 17-year-old winger Tynan Thompson making the bench. They are joined by academy product Dane Scarlett, who is eager for his first minutes of the season. Notably, Pape Matar Sarr is absent from the squad, even though he did not feature in the weekend match against Brighton.
Tottenham’s line-up for the match is as follows: Kinsky; Porro, Danso, Palhinha, Spence; Bentancur, Gray, Xavi, Johnson, Tel, Odobert. The substitutes include Austin, Richarlison, Udogie, Bergvall, Van de Ven, Scarlett, Thompson, Byfield, and Williams-Barnett.
This match presents an opportunity for Tottenham to showcase their depth and talent, with a mix of experienced players and promising young prospects. The inclusion of academy players on the bench highlights the club’s commitment to youth development, providing them with valuable first-team experience in a competitive setting.
