Moises Caicedo
Moises Caicedo has called on his Chelsea teammates to quickly put their recent draw against Brentford behind them as they prepare to face Bayern Munich. Chelsea were held to a 2-2 draw by their west London rivals, with Fabio Carvalho securing a point for Brentford in stoppage time. Despite the disappointment, Caicedo emphasized the importance of focusing on their upcoming match against the German giants.
Moises Caicedo said: “We are not happy because we didn’t win, but we are just thinking about Wednesday. For sure we are disappointed with the result, but now we have another game on Wednesday and we focus on that now. Everybody is going to be ready.”
The draw against Brentford was particularly frustrating for Caicedo, who had initially put Chelsea ahead with his second goal of the season. This goal marks his most productive campaign since joining Chelsea from Brighton in 2023. Reflecting on his performance, Caicedo expressed his determination to continue contributing to the team.
Caicedo said: “I knew what I was going to do. I was just thinking about shooting on goal. I did it and it was a great goal. I am going to keep going to help the team. Brentford play their football, putting the ball in the box, so it’s difficult. We tried to do our best but sometimes that happens.”
Chelsea’s manager also addressed the situation, clarifying that the focus was solely on the Brentford game, despite the looming fixture against Bayern Munich.
The Chelsea boss said: “No, no, no, no, absolutely [not]. Joao Pedro, before the game, asked me that he was not fit 100 percent, better [that he] doesn’t play. And so if I was thinking about Bayern Munich, Joao was on the bench. But Joao played because the focus was about tonight. But for sure, when you have so many games, you have to plan a different option. For instance, Reece James played two games with the international team. So play tonight and thinking on Wednesday. So it’s not, our focus was about tonight.”
Chelsea’s manager emphasized the importance of their performance in the Premier League as a foundation for their Champions League participation. The upcoming match against Bayern Munich presents an opportunity for the Blues to demonstrate their resilience and focus on the European stage.
