Sunderland’s young talent, Rhys Walsh, has been making waves since joining the Mariners in mid-August. Walsh, who initially signed for the club, has participated in all seven of his new team’s National League North fixtures, contributing one assist. Meanwhile, Sunderland striker Wilson Isidor is reportedly considering a change in his international allegiance, potentially joining the Haitian national team.
Ian Watson said: “I think today was really good for Rhys. Today was a tough day in terms of the pitch, the grass was really long so in terms of his attributes, his dribbling and manipulating the ball, it was really tough for him. But he really stuck at it, he worked hard, he had some really good moments on and off the ball and we are really excited to see where he can go during his time with us.”
Walsh joined Sunderland in February of last year and has since become a regular figure for both the U18s and Graeme Murty’s Premier League 2 side. His move to the Mariners is seen as a significant step in his development, providing him with the opportunity to gain regular minutes in men’s football. This experience is crucial for his growth as a player, and Sunderland has a history of successful loan spells for Academy players with Shields, hoping Walsh will follow this trend.
Ian Watson added: “Rhys is someone who brings us real pace from wide areas, he’s a very attack-minded player and will unsettle opposition a lot.”
In other news, Wilson Isidor, a Sunderland striker, is reportedly contemplating a switch in his international allegiance. According to Sport Passion Info, Isidor has expressed his verbal consent to join the Haitian national team. Born in Rennes, France, Isidor has previously represented France at various youth levels. However, he is also eligible to play for Haiti and was seen with a Haitian flag at Wembley following Sunderland’s Championship play-off final victory in May.
Isidor’s potential switch to the Haitian national team could provide him with more international exposure and opportunities, given his recent form, which includes two Premier League goals this season. The decision to change national teams is significant and could impact his international career trajectory.
