Mikel Arteta Arsenal
Mikel Arteta is poised to deliver crucial injury updates on four Arsenal players during his pre-match press conference ahead of the Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest. As the September international break draws to a close, attention shifts back to domestic football, with Arsenal facing a challenging period due to several injuries within the squad. While Nicolas Dominguez remains the only confirmed absentee for Nottingham Forest, recovering from knee surgery, Arsenal’s injury list is more extensive.
Mikel Arteta said: “I think it will be weeks, but I don’t know how many months. Very unfortunate, very sad for him. I think he did tremendously well to recover from the previous one. He’s never had an injury before. And suddenly this happens, but this is our profession, our football. We need to live with that. Obviously, we lose another big player for many, many weeks. But it was the right thing to do. The doctors advised and I think he was very convinced at the end that it was the quickest and the best way to resolve that issue.”
Arteta further explained: “He twisted his ankle during the warm-up. He came in and he said he believed that he could carry on and play, but straight away in the first two actions. I could see that he couldn’t cope, and we had to get him out, unfortunately.”
The injury woes for Arsenal are compounded by the absence of key players. Both Ben White and Christian Norgaard have been sidelined for several weeks due to knocks but are expected to return to the matchday squad after participating in training at London Colney. However, Kai Havertz’s situation is more concerning, as he recently underwent a minor knee procedure. Although not expected to be out for an extended period, the exact timeline for his return remains uncertain.
Bukayo Saka is another significant loss for Arsenal, having sustained a muscular issue that has kept him out of international duty. His recovery is ongoing, and Arteta is expected to provide further clarity on his condition in the upcoming press conference. Meanwhile, Gabriel Jesus continues to be unavailable due to a knee injury, further complicating Arsenal’s squad selection.
As Arsenal prepares to face Nottingham Forest, Arteta’s updates will be pivotal in determining the team’s readiness and strategy. The return of White and Norgaard could bolster the squad, while the absence of Havertz, Saka, and Jesus presents tactical challenges for Arteta. The manager’s insights will be eagerly awaited by fans and analysts alike as they assess Arsenal’s prospects in the upcoming fixture.
