#mustread #PremierLeagueStories on Dec 9 1992 – #HowardWilkinson targets England Right back to solve defensive crisis

Howard Wilkinson

England right-back Peter Beardsley had become a target for struggling champions Leeds United. Leeds boss Howard Wilkinson was desperate to sign a right-back following a string of poor results. Leeds were having a nightmare season where they were already out of the title race before Christmas since they were fighting in the bottom half of the table as well as were knocked out of the European Cup and the Coca Cola Cup. The fans had already turned on the board after the popular French Striker Eric Cantona was sold to arch-rivals Manchester United earlier that month.
