Tyler Dibling
Everton is reportedly closing in on the acquisition of Southampton’s Tyler Dibling, marking what could be their most significant transfer signing of the summer. The promising young talent is expected to break Southampton’s record for a transfer fee from a home-grown player, as he prepares to make a move that could define his burgeoning career.
Alfie House said: “A record sale for an academy graduate from an academy like Southampton is pretty good going! In the right conditions, with a bit of belief in him, he can be a game-changer. Dibling has also been a number 10 as a youngster in the academy and I also agree with Russell Martin that this is where he’ll end up being most effective. But right now he’s similar to Jack Grealish in that his best attribute at the men’s level is beating a player one-on-one with a quick shimmy, so I think he’s likely to continue playing on the wing for a while as a young lad.”
Russell Martin said: “He has something I’ve not seen in a British player in a long time.”
Alfie House said: “He needs to improve the defensive awareness side of his game and he has made one or two mistakes leading to goals by not being fully switched on or reacting quick enough to something in his own half. He’s very similar on and off the pitch. Shy, quiet, relaxed but extremely confident. Tyler knows he’s a good player and he’s not afraid to say it. He’s not a bragger and he also knows what he’s not so good at, but if you ask him to name his strengths, he’ll tell you exactly what they are with a grin on his face. I’ve always found him quite endearing, and he’s extremely polite. This will be a big step for him but from what I know he’s excited to make the move up to the North West, so hopefully it works out for him.”
Alfie House said: “I think it’s a brilliant deal for all three parties. Saints get good money for a lad they’ve developed, Everton get a good player and Tyler gets a move to a brilliant club with one of the best managers in the league. David Moyes has a record of improving clubs – they get worse when he leaves, West Ham are a shambles – and he improves players too. Academy staff at Saints agree with that.”
Tyler Dibling, often compared to a “younger but bigger Jack Grealish,” is anticipated to fill a significant role at Everton. The 19-year-old, who has already shown flashes of brilliance in his limited Premier League appearances, is recognized for his ability to beat defenders with his quick footwork. However, there are areas for improvement, particularly in his defensive awareness. The move to Everton, under the guidance of manager David Moyes, is seen as a strategic step to unlock Dibling’s full potential. Moyes, known for his knack for developing young talent, could provide the ideal environment for Dibling to thrive. Everton fans will be eager to see how Dibling adapts to his new surroundings and whether he can live up to the high expectations set for him.
