Phil Foden has set his ambitions high after making his international debut with England on Saturday. The City midfielder started for Gareth Southgate’s side during a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Iceland in the Nations League. And speaking after the game, the 20-year-old outlined how he wants to become a regular on the international stage.
Phil Foden said “It feels amazing, a dream come true. It’s a big moment for me and my family, so, yeah, I enjoyed it a lot. It was a very difficult game, they defended well. We showed great character to stick in the game and luckily we got the penalty at the end and scored. They had a chance at the end as well, but overall, to get the win is massive for the country. It’s a very high standard, so I’m just going to try and enjoy it the most that I can and learn from the players. I wanna keep playing for my country – not just a one-off – I just need to keep playing well and enjoying my football. Hopefully I can keep the shirt.”
