Adam Aznou
Adam Aznou, the Moroccan international who previously played for Bayern Munich and Barcelona, has joined Everton on a four-year deal. The left-back spent the last season on loan at Real Valladolid in Spain, where he made 13 appearances. Despite Valladolid’s struggles, finishing at the bottom of La Liga, Aznou is eager to embark on a new chapter in the Premier League, widely regarded as the best league in the world.
Aznou said: “I’m so proud to be part of this team. The project they gave me is really good. The Premier League is the best league in the world so I’m really excited to start. The stadium is really nice. It gives you a good feeling and it’s good for our fans to support us. It’s perfect for us. I just have to say I’m really thankful to be here. I’m really proud so I will give everything in every training session and every game.”
Aznou’s move to Merseyside was significantly influenced by discussions with Everton manager David Moyes. The manager’s vision and confidence in Aznou’s abilities were pivotal in the player’s decision to join the club.
Aznou added: “He talked with me, he spoke with me about the team and how he wants me. So I decided directly when I spoke with him. I decided really quickly because of the words he gave me. He gave me confidence, so I decided to sign.”
Moyes has been keen on strengthening the left-back position since his arrival at Everton, a need that became more pressing due to Mykolenko’s injury setbacks over the past 18 months. Mykolenko, however, managed to stay fit towards the end of the season, contributing assists in key matches against Brentford and Newcastle United.
Moyes said: “We are pleased to bring Adam to Everton. He’s a young talented player with a lot of potential. Left-backs are not easy to get and we’ve brought in a young player who we hope will grow in his time at Everton.”
Despite securing Aznou, Moyes has indicated that further recruitment is necessary, with the manager targeting five or six additional signings before the summer transfer window closes. Right wing and central midfield are identified as priority areas for strengthening the squad.
Everton fans will be eager to see how Aznou adapts to the rigors of the Premier League and contributes to the team’s ambitions in the upcoming season.
