George Graham the Arsenal manager was to give Ian Wright one final chance to calm his volatile temperament. Graham was not prepared to jump to conclusions after Weight was accused of hitting an opponent for the second time that season. But he knew that Arsenal would have to part ways with the 29-year-old striker if his behavior on and off the field did not improve. Ian Wright had been accused of hitting Tottenham midfielder David Howells, he was also accused of mocking the Chelsea fans earlier that season which resulted in crowd violence as well as multiple run-ins with his opponents.
