Newcastle United has announced a significant 10-year extension with Adidas, valued at approximately £100 million per season. This strategic move aims to bolster the club’s financial standing and enhance its global marketing presence. The club’s revenue has already reached a record £320.3 million, driven by new sponsorship deals and increased retail and catering activities. Despite these achievements, Newcastle remains behind Manchester City, which reported a Premier League record revenue of £715 million in their latest accounts.
Peter Silverstone said: “I don’t need to tell you that Adidas have some pretty extraordinary launch plans for us, which will put us on a global marketing platform, which is fantastic. It is a similar story with the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool.”
The comparison with Manchester United and Liverpool highlights the competitive nature of kit deals in the Premier League. Manchester United previously held the record for the most lucrative kit deal with Adidas at £90 million annually, while Liverpool’s deal is valued at £60 million per year. These financial advantages have allowed clubs like Liverpool to make significant investments, such as breaking the British transfer record for Florian Wirtz and pursuing Alexander Isak.
Manchester City, meanwhile, has cemented its relationship with Puma through a contract extension lasting until the 2034-35 season. The agreement underscores City’s recent successes, despite a trophy-less season under Pep Guardiola. Arthur Hoeld, CEO of Puma, expressed satisfaction with the partnership, emphasizing its success both on and off the pitch.
Arthur Hoeld stated: “Puma’s partnership with Manchester City has been a great success both on and off the pitch.”
City’s proactive approach to the 2025-26 campaign includes significant player acquisitions, such as Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan, Rayan Cherki from Lyon for £34 million, and Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves for £31 million. These moves aim to reclaim the Premier League title from Liverpool.
Newcastle United, under the ownership of PIF, is determined to close the financial gap with top clubs like Manchester City. The partnership with Adidas is a critical step in this direction, providing the club with a robust platform for global marketing and revenue growth.
