Young Manchester City striker Divin Mubama has embarked on a new chapter in his football career by joining Championship side Stoke City on loan for the upcoming season. The 20-year-old, who joined City’s academy from West Ham for £2 million last summer, made a significant impact during his time with City, scoring on his senior debut in an 8-0 FA Cup victory against Salford City. Mubama also made his Premier League debut, contributing to a 6-0 win at Ipswich. His impressive performance in Premier League 2, where he scored 10 goals and provided four assists in nine appearances, further cemented his reputation as a promising talent.
Divin Mubama said: “Stoke City is a massive club, I’m excited to be here and determined to work hard, score goals and do everything I can to help the team. It’s important to me that we’ve got it done early so I can focus on getting a full pre-season, learning what the manager wants and how the team plays, and making connections with my fellow players. Our fans can expect me to be very hungry, both for goals and for hard work, playing with huge determination to repay the faith people have shown in me. For me as a striker, of course it’s about scoring, but it’s also about playing with intensity, getting the crowd going and leading from the front.”
Stoke City representative said: “To sign Divin so early within our pre-season – able to play in our matches, build relationships with his teammates and generate tactical awareness of the way we play – is hugely positive. We know how lethal he can be in front of goal, and he’s also someone with the desire and work ethic to put in the hard yards for the team, which is exactly what our supporters love to see.”
Mubama’s move to Stoke City provides him with an opportunity to gain valuable first-team experience in a competitive environment. The timing of the loan allows him to integrate fully with the squad during pre-season, ensuring he understands the team’s tactics and builds rapport with his new teammates. His goal-scoring prowess and work ethic are expected to be significant assets for Stoke City as they aim for success in the Championship. Mubama’s transition is seen as a strategic move to enhance his development and readiness for top-flight football in the future.
