Jørgen Strand Larsen
In a challenging season for Wolverhampton Wanderers, the club’s prominent Norwegian striker has expressed pride in his contributions, having scored 14 goals in 35 appearances. These numbers are particularly commendable given the team’s struggles and his adaptation to life in a new country. The striker’s performance has been a bright spot in an otherwise difficult campaign, highlighting his ability to deliver on the pitch despite the challenges faced by the team.
Jørgen Strand Larsen said: “Previously when I moved to a new country, I’ve needed more time, especially in Spain, where I needed almost a year. But, at the end of the day, that’s what they count strikers on – they need you to score the goals and be on the end of it, so it’s been a good season for me in that respect.”
He continued: “I needed one more goal to reach 15, which would have been amazing in my first season in the Premier League, as I have never scored 15 goals in another team in any other league, so that was a personal goal for me as well, but, unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get that in the last game.”
Reflecting on the team’s performance, the striker acknowledged the club’s primary objective of maintaining their Premier League status. Despite a challenging start to the season, the team managed to secure their place in the league, an achievement he attributes to the squad’s resilience and determination.
He added: “We managed to do what we wanted to do – halfway through it was about staying up, so we managed to do that. I’m proud of the team and the way we came back after a really tough start. But we also need to learn from that, and hopefully next season we can have fewer games where we’re not performing at our best level.”
The striker emphasized: “What we can work on is just trying to be as stable as a team as we can. We’ve been way too much up and down, and it also reflects on the last few games of the season. If we can be on a decent level every game, we are a very tough team to beat, and that’s what we want to aim for.”
He concluded: “We showed last season we can beat anyone, and we can again next year, so hopefully we can build on that.”
The striker’s reflections underline the importance of consistency and stability for Wolverhampton Wanderers in the upcoming season. His personal achievements, coupled with the team’s survival, provide a foundation for optimism as the club looks to improve its performance and establish itself as a formidable force in the Premier League. The striker’s ambition to reach new personal milestones and his commitment to the team’s success will be crucial as Wolves aim to build on their experiences and challenges from the past season.
