Graeme Souness was set to pin his faith in the men who lost at Chelsea a week earlier – even though Liverpool were seeking to end a spell of four Premiership matches without a point or a goal. Liverpool was preparing for one of the season’s biggest matches – a home game against rivals Arsenal.
Graeme Souness said “I was very happy with their overall performance. The only thing wrong was that we didn’t put the ball in the net, We have proven goal scorers like lan Rush in the side, and I am confident that we can put things right and get back on the winning path. Our squad will not be far away from the one we used at Stamford Bridge, and the team that takes the field will not be far off either. We had to make a couple of changes after the Everton game but obviously, you look to keep a side together as much as you can, and I am happy to reward the players who took part last week for the quality of that performance.”
