QPR manager Gerry Francis had warned his England striker Les Ferdinand to live with the pressure. The Rangers boss watched Ferdinand virtually marked out of the game against low league strugglers Barnet in the Coca Cola Cup match. Just a couple of weeks earlier he was linked with a move to Newcastle United and he was the hero for England in the World Cup qualifier but all the attention around him seemed to have affected his performances on the pitch which his manager admitted was going to remain.
Gerry Francis said “This is something Les has got to learn to live with, he still has a lot to learn. The pressure and attention will always be there on him wherever he goes.”
