Simon Rusk was appointed as the interim manager of Southampton while the club searched for a permanent successor to Russell Martin. He expressed his feelings about the appointment.
Simon Rusk said “It’s a great honour. I’ve worked at the club since the summer.”
Rusk, focusing on his temporary role and the upcoming match against Liverpool, emphasized his professional commitment.
Simon Rusk said “For me, concentrating on that as my focus was the right, professional thing to do. I’m sure there’s always a period of reflection after. It was a proud moment for me, without a shadow of a doubt. It’s a great honour, you know. It’s a great honour to represent the club and guide them into such an important game.”
Southampton faced a challenge with the absence of forward Adam Armstrong due to suspension. Armstrong was suspended because he had been booked twice in the Carabao Cup this season, in matches against Stoke City and Everton.
