Dan Ashworth, who was recently relieved of his duties as sporting director at Manchester United, had been in the role for less than six months. The departure was announced in a club statement expressing gratitude and well-wishes. He was highly regarded when he joined, described as one of the top sporting directors.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, reflecting on the decision-making at Manchester United, said “I just hope they’re as this brutal as they have been with the staff that have been there for years that they’re culling.”
Sir Jim Ratcliffe expressed his hopes for similar decisiveness in handling team performance, focusing on underperforming players and operational decisions at the club.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe said “For better or worse, at least they have made a bloody decision, that’s the way I think about it. But you look at the things that are going on I think there’s a lot of noise around the club. Ticket prices are now going up, there has been laying off of 250 plus staff and again they are very definitive they’re like ‘we’re doing this’.”
