Arne Slot, the new Liverpool coach, was addressing the challenges his team faced in their fixture list and the importance of maintaining their strong start in the Premier League to stay ahead of their rivals. He highlighted the potential testing period the team would face with upcoming matches against tough opponents like Arsenal and Manchester City.
Arne Slot said “The difficultly level ramps up once again between now and the end of the year. Resuming after the international break with a clash at rock-bottom Southampton on Sunday week, Liverpool then entertain City before trips to Newcastle United and Everton. They’ll have also visited Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United by the start of 2025. And it’s during this period the Reds know their lead will be in danger of being seriously threatened.”
Alexis Mac Allister, a Liverpool midfielder, expressed his contentment with the team’s current form and the need to continue improving to maintain their strong position in the league.
Alexis Mac Allister said “It’s going to be a long season. There are still a lot of games to play. I am happy because we are in a good moment and everybody can see we have a very good team. But you know how football works. You have to keep working and keep getting better and that’s what we will try.”
Liverpool understands the importance of earning as many points as possible early in the season to have a cushion for more challenging fixtures later on.
Arne Slot said “The schedule indicates the more points they earn as soon as possible, the better.”
