Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has backed calls for an extended Premier League break – echoing the claims of Chelsea boss Frank Lampard. Wolves’ campaign for the 2019-20 season started way back in July 2019 when they played in the Europa League qualifying rounds against Irish team Crusaders. The ongoing pandemic – and the delay it caused to the football season – has pushed the Europe League and Champions League campaign into the pre-season territory, with European action now taking place shortly before the new Premier League season begins. And the Wolves boss feels that his team like a lot of other sides requires more time to recover and restart the next season.
