**Tottenham’s Loan Players Weekly Round-Up**
It was a productive week for most of Tottenham’s loan players, thanks to a midweek round of games. Performances varied, with some players making noticeable impacts while others struggled for game time.
**Dane Scarlett (Oxford United)**
Dane Scarlett managed to score again for Oxford United, netting in their match against Derby County on Tuesday evening. This marks back-to-back goals for him, signaling a positive turn after a challenging start at Oxford due to irregular starts. In contrast, Jamie Donley from Tottenham is currently not getting the desired playtime at Leyton Orient, having been dropped from the squad.
Ahead of Oxford’s game at Sunderland, Ange Postecoglou was asked about Scarlett’s recent performances.
Ange Postecoglou said, “Yeah it’s important for Dane and for all our guys on loan, part of the reason we put them on loan is to get game time, not to sit on the bench, but again they have to earn that. It’s important for Dane, it’s an important year for him and he needs to play and score goals at that level to make sure he keeps progressing. Pleased the last 10 days with England and Oxford he’s got himself a couple of goals and he’s got to maintain that now. Whilst we put them out on loan with the best intention, a lot of it is up to the players themselves to go there and make an impact. I am pleased he’s started to do that.”
Scarlett continued to lead the line during Oxford’s 2-0 loss at Sunderland, receiving a score of six in Oxford Mail’s player ratings for his effort and performance.
**Manor Solomon (Leeds United)**
Manor Solomon played 76 minutes in Leeds United’s 2-1 victory over Watford last Tuesday but had a brief 20-minute stint from the bench against Bristol City in a goalless draw on Saturday. His performance against Bristol earned him a rating of five out of ten, with Leeds Live noting he “didn’t have any real bearing on the game.”
Daniel Farke commented on Solomon’s form, saying, “When he first came he played with so much confidence, rhythm and so much confidence then the injury stopped him from going on international duty and he has to do his rehab. Such a proud player to play for his national team, it was a sucker punch for him. He works so hard in training and he always adds some additional stuff in training and in the game. He wants it so much. So sometimes you want him to relax a bit. We’re fully convinced of his quality. Out of good intention he forces it a bit too much, you don’t have to prove what a good player you are, do what you’ve done your whole career and your quality will shine. I’m pretty sure it will happen soon. Keep in mind a bottle of ketchup.”
**Bryan Gil (Girona)**
Bryan Gil missed his third consecutive game for Girona due to an injury. He was absent during their recent matches, including a Champions League win over Slovan Bratislava and a league defeat at Las Palmas. Gil hopes to return soon as Girona faces Extremadura and Leganes this week.
**Alejo Veliz (Espanyol)**
Alejo Veliz played against Sevilla for Espanyol, in a game they lost. Despite his two off-target shots, Espanyol’s poor form continued with five losses in their last six league games.
**Alfie Devine and Luka Vuskovic (Westerlo)**
Both Devine and Vuskovic completed 90 minutes in Westerlo’s 2-0 defeat at Sint-Truidense V.V. Devine tried to be instrumental with seven passes into the final third and two chances created. Vuskovic also contributed to the attack despite his defensive role with 14 final third passes and a shot on target.
**Ashley Phillips (Stoke City)**
Ashley Phillips was given a starting role at Stoke City in their 2-0 loss at Sheffield United. He provided a needed physical presence according to the Stoke Sentinel, which awarded him a rating of six out of ten for his defensive efforts and chances to score.
**Jamie Donley and Josh Keeley (Leyton Orient)**
Jamie Donley has been out of the matchday squad recently, primarily due to EFL rules allowing only five loan players in a squad out of the six Orient has. Meanwhile, Josh Keeley has been starting in the last three League One fixtures.
**Matthew Craig (Barnsley)**
Matthew Craig, a former regular starter, has now been used off the bench in Barnsley’s last three games. He played 27 minutes in their 2-0 victory over Shrewsbury Town.
**George Abbott (Notts County)**
George Abbott continues to play a significant role in Notts County’s promotion campaign, having played the full match in their 1-0 win over Harrogate Town.
