Kieran Trippier has been given “time away” from Newcastle United following his latest injury setback. He sustained a hamstring injury during a match against Everton earlier this month and has been ruled out for the next few weeks. This means Trippier will miss the upcoming clash with Chelsea and the Carabao Cup tie against the same team at St James’ Park next week, which could be significant for Newcastle’s season. Newcastle’s head coach Eddie Howe believes that time away from daily activities will aid Trippier’s recovery process.
Eddie Howe said, “He’s in a good place. He’s had a little bit of time away from the club due to his injury. He has gone to seek treatment elsewhere but we don’t envisage his injury to be a big one and we hope he will be back, if not before the international break then after the international break, ahead. I think he is in the best frame of mind that I have seen him for a few months. I think he’s in a really good place currently.”
Trippier’s absence creates an opportunity for Tino Livramento to play at right-back. However, the team misses the experience and leadership of the 54-times England international. With Callum Wilson and Jamaal Lascelles also unavailable, Newcastle feels the loss of the seasoned players who have contributed to their recent successes.
