Now is the time for Leicester City to buy world-class players and cement their place in the top six, Andy King has said. King has been released after 15 years at Leicester but he believes that Leicester City is an attractive place to play for top talents, given the trajectory of the club, the young stars they have developed, and their involvement in Europe.
Andy King said “The manager they’ve got in now is an exceptional manager, He’s done a brilliant job pretty much wherever he’s been. The lads all buy in to what he’s doing. They believe in him 100 per cent, they believe in his methods 100 per cent. I think it’s an attractive club in terms of signing players and the club they’re trying to create. They’ve got some of the best young players in the country now. It’s a club only on an onward trajectory. They’ve qualified for Europe this year which is an unbelievable achievement. With that brings the opportunity to sign European and world-class players, because they really want European football. Now is the time to kick on and really cement the top six. He’s (Jamie Vardy) more of an all-round player now, I think Brendan has done a good job of making sure he’s fresh in and around the penalty box. In pre-season he was saying we don’t want you running out in the channels and pressing full-backs. Make sure you have your high energy and speed around the goal. That’s helped him, having the confidence from the manager. His hold up play and link play has really improved. He’s the complete number nine.”
