Bologna winger Samuel Iling-Junior reflected on his move from Aston Villa during the summer transfer window. After joining Villa along with Enzo Barrenechea in a separate deal from Douglas Luiz’s transfer to Juventus, both players left the club on loan, with Iling-Junior heading to Bologna and Barrenechea to Valencia. Iling-Junior appreciated Unai Emery’s honesty regarding his future at Villa, which led to his decision to seek more playing time elsewhere.
Samuel Iling-Junior said: “I spoke to the manager and I understood that there wasn’t much space for me and since I appreciate honesty I preferred to look for a team where I could have more chances. Here in Bologna, there is a great project, as I had already seen last year.”
Reflecting on the prospect of facing Liverpool at Anfield in the Champions League, Iling-Junior added:
Samuel Iling-Junior said “Playing at Anfield is always an indescribable emotion. For me, I am English, it means a lot because I have the opportunity to show myself.”
