Ilkay Gundogan, 34, recently returned to Manchester City after a stint with Barcelona, signing a one-year contract with an option to extend for an additional year. With his Turkish heritage, Gundogan has left the door open for a potential move to Galatasaray in the future, adding an emotional element to the possibility. Although he just rejoined City, he hasn’t ruled out the idea of playing in Turkey before he retires.
When asked about ending his career and the possibility of playing for Galatasaray.
Ilkay Gundogan said “Never say never. But, at the end of the day, you have to look at the circumstances at a certain time. The reality is that I’m here playing for the best club and the best football team in the world. I have everything on my doorstep.”
Gundogan also shared his contentment with life in Manchester, saying:
Ilkay Gundogan said “Me and my wife, and my little one, we like to have walks around the city, especially when it’s quiet… Have a coffee or a pastry. The people are very nice. We get treated with a lot of respect, with people smiling at us. After Gelsenkirchen, it’s the city where I have spent most time in my life.”
