Crystal Palace have submitted a bid for Nottingham Forest target and Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah according to reports. The Eagles are interested in the striker, with both clubs now discussing a potential move according to Fabrizio Romano. Previously, Nketiah – who is very much Arsenal’s ‘second option’ under Mikel Arteta – was linked with a move to the east Midlands but is it understood the player would prefer a move to a London-based side – which Palace are – despite the ‘framework’ of a £30m deal having been agreed between Arsenal and Forest last week.
A move to Palace makes sense for Nketiah , firstly due to the location but also because he offers something different from current strikers Jean-Phillipe Mateta and Odsonne Edouard. The Englishman will back himself to get goals at Selhurst Park with the likes of Eberechi Eze acting provider. Now, Forest have seemingly prioritised the signing of Feyenoord marksman Santiago Gimenez putting in a third bid after having the previous two rebuffed by the Rotterdam outfit. The Reds are hoping to complete the deal before Friday’s 11 pm deadline – he would likely be available for the visit of Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon (3 pm). Nuno Espirito Santo gave his thoughts on the latest rumours,
Nuno Espirito Santo said “You know how it is. We go now and when you wake up, you don’t know what is going to happen. There are so many things going on in the transfer window – surprise moves from all the teams. All the clubs in the Premier League are looking at these final days (of the window) to get the final details right. As long as we are the same, I will be OK. But let’s see what happens.”
