Marc Cucurella has fired a tongue-in-cheek message on social media after Chelsea ran out rampant 6-2 winners over Wolves . The Blues secured their first Premier League of the season with a clinical performance at Molineux. Nicolas Jackson gave Enzo Maresca’s side the lead inside the first two minutes before Matheus Cunha equalised for the home side. Cole Palmer put Chelsea ahead on the stroke of half-time, only for Jorgen Strand Larsen to level once more deep into injury-time at the end of the first period. But Chelsea came out after half-time with a point to prove and put Wolves to the sword, with Noni Madueke scoring a 14-minute hat-trick at the start of the second half. Substitute Joao Felix, who was making his second debut after re-joining from Atletico Madrid last week, put gloss on the scoreline with a sixth late on. Madueke got the credit for his performance at the start of the second period, but the 22-year-old had to contend with boos and jeers throughout after an X-rated message appeared on his social media.

A post showed on his Instagram profile reading: “Everything about his place is s***,” before Madueke followed up with another story which read: “Damn wrong Instagram account… You lot are fast.”

But despite facing criticism from the Wolves fans for his comment, Madueke had the last laugh with his first career treble. And after the game, Cucurella took to light what was said beforehand and sent a lighthearted message to fans. In a post on Twitter, formerly known as X, Cucurella uploaded two images – one of him in action and another alongside hat-trick hero Madueke with the match ball – accompanied with the caption:

Cucurella wrote “Everything about this place was nice today. Thanks for the away support! Congrats on your hat-trick, @NoniMadueke_ !”

Meanwhile, Madueke decided to apologise after his pre-match social media post.

Madueke said “I just want to apologise to everyone that I might have offended. It is just a human mistake, an accident. It wasn’t meant to be out on my socials like that. I’m sure Wolverhampton is a nice town and I’m sorry. It was a mistake and you learn from those things. Hopefully nothing like that happens again. In terms of the boos, I expected it but it is part of the game. You have to be able to play under that sort of pressure.”
