The Blues will travel to the Black Country on the back of a 2-0 home defeat to Manchester City on their opening game of the season. However, Chelsea did get off to the perfect start in their Europa Conference League play-off tie with a 2-0 win over Servette. The rotated side was too strong for their Swiss opponents, with Noni Madueke and Christopher Nkunku scoring the goals for Enzo Maresca’s side. The Italian, who needed to make changes in order to see the game out, used Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernandez , and Malo Gusto to get his side over the line. Palmer meanwhile, felt something during the game but was able to continue. Maresca is confident he will be involved against Wolves,
Enzo Maresca said “Cole, he felt something but he looks fine. They have already checked him. He looks fine, he is okay. Hopefully there is no problem and he can be involved in Sunday’s game.”
Ahead of the clash at Molineux, Chelsea have failed to scoop all three points in the Midlands since 2019. Pedro Neto meanwhile, will be hoping he can cause some harm to his former side though Maresca has hinted he needs more time to get back up to speed.
Enzo Maresca said “Pedro, the last time he played 90 minutes was in February. You can imagine, a long time ago, We need with him, Pedro is the kind of winger, you see in the first-half, is always trying one-v-one and is creating momentum that is very important for the team. If he is available, then for sure he can have a chance to play. In terms of knowing the way we want to play, probably not yet [ready]. In terms of physicality, I think he is ready because he was already playing games there [at Atletico Madrid]. He needs more time to understand the way we want to play but overall I think he can play.”
