Former Newcastle United midfielder Ki Sung-yueng has rejoined FC Seoul after his move to Real Mallorca did not work out. Overall, it was a frustrating campaign for Ki – illness kept him out for a spell over the winter at Newcastle – and he made just five appearances in all for two clubs. The midfielder’s last start for Newcastle came in the 3-1 defeat at Norwich back in August and while his final few months at the club did not go as he hoped, Ki was refreshingly honest about his own performances.
Ki Sung-yueng said “I don’t blame anyone because I haven’t performed well, I think, Of course, there are a lot of reasons why I haven’t performed well but, at the end of the day, I haven’t performed well so I don’t blame anyone. But I was very happy when I was playing in front of the fans because they’re massive fans and supporters. If I go somewhere else, I’m still proud of Newcastle – it’s a big club for me and I really enjoy playing in front of a lot of passion. I’m still proud of all the fans and the club.”
