Son Heung-min admitted it was strange to receive awards from the Tottenham Hotspur fans when they couldn’t be there to share at the moment and compared it to last season. Son collected all four end-of-season awards for the second year in a row following Sunday’s victory over Leicester. He has collected the goal of the season, player of the season, Juniors’ player of the season and supporters player of the season awards. Son pointed out the irony of it the fans’ absence this year and his own absence from the pitch last season because of his suspension.
Son Heung-min said “It means a lot to me. Of course, it’s sad not seeing the fans, Last year, I won it but I wasn’t playing the [final home] game and today I was playing but the fans weren’t here so it was a bit sad. It’s a big honour and a big achievement for me. I’m grateful for every player, every member of staff and every fan. I’ve been here almost five years and I try to enjoy every single moment. I’m working hard and I try to improve every single day. This is important. It’s hard sometime sometimes to perform amazingly but the important thing is to improve every day. This is what I try to do. My teammates help me so this is the reason [for my success].”
