Young left-back Luke Thomas has joined the Leicester City squad for the Premier League clash at Arsenal on Tuesday evening. The 19-year-old has been training with Brendan Rodgers’ first team since the restart and has now been included in the senior side’s travelling party for the first time, the England youth international providing cover with Ben Chilwell doubtful because of a foot injury. And manager Brendan Rodgers rates the youngster very highly and thinks he has got what it takes to succeed at the highest level.
Brendan Rodgers said “He’s one who’s really shown tremendous talent since he’s been in. He’s a wonderful passer of the ball, he serves the ball really well. He makes good passes, clever passes, he can get forward. He wants to defend, so as a left-back, first and foremost he can defend. He may be slight at the moment but he’s tenacious, he’s got good power and will get stronger over these next few years. He’s a young player I really like and one of the biggest attributes he has is his temperament.”
