Chelsea youngster Mason Mount names Ross Barkley and Olivier Giroud as the players who had the most influence on the game against Watford. The Blues returned to winning ways with a resounding 3-0 victory over relegation-threatened Watford, with Olivier Giroud, Willian and Ross Barkley on the scoresheet. That saw Frank Lampard’s side rise back into the top-four, responding after victories for Leicester City and Manchester United earlier in the game. While Mount pulled the strings throughout, he expressed his surprise after the game when he was told he had been awarded Man of the Match.
Mason Mount said “I’m quite surprised to be fair. I didn’t think I did that well, I was just trying to keep the ball and keep it ticking over, Ross [Barkley] got a goal and an assist, Olivier Giroud too. It was a brilliant performance, we spoke before the game of needing to have that reaction and show what we can do. It was a must win and we did that. We took over in the final third, we could have had a couple more. But we switched off a couple of times and there is things to work on.”
