Sean Dyche hailed one of his best results as Burnley boss after seeing his side win 1-0 at Crystal Palace. Captain Ben Mee marked his 300th league appearance for the club with a superb display at the back and a first goal since January 2017, heading home just after the hour mark. The victory moved Burnley level on points with Tottenham and up to eighth position in spite of the club being without Jay Rodriguez, Chris Wood, Ashley Barnes, Robbie Brady, Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Matt Lowton due to injury, along with the players who will officially depart Turf Moor at the end of their contracts today.
Sean Dyche said “It is certainly up there as one of the biggest results I’ve had as manager here, The reasons are we are so stretched, we’ve played a lot of football, the commitment to the cause, but also some of the football was excellent. He (Ben Mee) has matured no end in my seven-and-a-half years, he was here before me actually. On and off the pitch, he is a great captain. Off the pitch he is a very sound fella as well. He has good principles and is a top professional too. He is a leader by the way he goes about it. He is not a big shouter or screamer, but he goes about it in the right manner. I thought he was terrific again.”
