Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic has admitted the squad is excited about next season following the capture of Germany striker Timo Werner from RB Leipzig. The Blues announced a deal for the highly-rated forward this week, having already secured a deal to bring Hakim Ziyech to the club from Ajax. Those additions provide Chelsea with a significant boost for next season and Pulisic, who marked his return from injury against Aston Villa with a crucial goal, is already looking ahead to next year.
Christian Pulisic said “We already have a very strong team and very good players. To add guys like that is obviously incredible. We’re focused on this season for now but we’re also very excited for what’s to come, I’m really glad that I could come in and help the team in any way I could. Luckily today it was with a goal and it helped us to get a good result. He didn’t tell me to do anything special really, just to go on and use my talents, do what I can do. I was happy that I was able to do that. I don’t think I hit it perfectly with my left but luckily I got enough onto it so that it went in. It’s very different playing with no fans and under different circumstances but I think the team brought good energy and we finished really strong. I’m happy we were able to get a result. I’ve been out for a while, it felt really nice to be back out here, especially for me after the injury. We’ve been trying to stay fit as best we can, now we need to get back into the rhythm of things.”
