Auston Trusty’s eyes were already wide open to Sheffield United following his loan experience with Birmingham City last season. The 24-year-old featured twice against Paul Heckingbottom’s men and was impressed by what he saw. As first impressions go, Trusty was impressed. Speaking to SUTV after finalising his move,
Auston Trusty said: “I’m excited for all the challenges and everything that I can possibly do for the team and the squad. Whether the running, the grind, the grittiness, I don’t care what it is I am willing to do it for the squad. I played you guys twice last year and I saw the team, I saw the mindset, I saw the atmosphere. All the above. Even on the pitch I was thinking ‘dang, this is a real deal team’.”
Having been on Arsenal’s tour to the US, he was a brief team-mate of Aaron Ramsdale. Due to how quickly the move developed, he had not been able to discuss the move but planned to call him.
Auston Trusty added: “Not too much [spoken to him]. I plan on calling him later to get the lay of the land, how he liked it and everything he can possibly tell me.”
