Luke Ayling cut a dejected figure in his post-match interview after Leeds United’s 3-1 defeat to West Ham United. The Whites started the game on the front foot and took the lead through Rodrigo after 17 minutes. The Leeds defender lacked any enthusiasm in his post-match interview with Premier League survival needing a miracle heading into the final day of the season. The Whites take on Tottenham Hotspur, who still have Europa Conference League football up for grabs.
Anything less than three points would relegate Leeds, who also need favour from Everton and Leicester City’s opponents. “Slims it down a little bit,” Ayling said when asked about hope heading into the final day.
Luke Ayling said: “But there still is hope. We’ve just got to go out there and take care of our business, hope for the best really. But we know it’s a slim chance, but we’ll hang onto that and try and go out in a good way, because the fans deserve that, especially at home. We’ll have to try and give it our all.”
Ayling admitted that Leeds will struggle to get up for the game, knowing results must go their way elsewhere.
Luke Ayling added: “I think now and for a few days it’s going to be hard to get up for it, but we need to make sure that as the week goes on, we get our heads in the right place and then go out there and try and win a game of football.”
