Roberto de Zerbi says Brighton’s 6-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers was his “best game” as a coach. Wolves had an afternoon to forget after they found themselves trailing 4-0 at half-time. Deniz Undav, Pascal Gross and Danny Welbeck all scored two goals each, leaving Wolves eight points from the drop zone with four games left to play. As for the Seagulls, they boosted their chances of securing an European place, sitting just two points from the top-five. Five changes to his starting eleven, had the desired effect.
Roberto de Zerbi said: “I decided to change five players to give more energy, to be more alive in doing the game. I am very delighted for the performance for the guys and not the result. We suffered a lot in the last two games in Nottingham and the semi final of the FA Cup, we deserved to win. This answer today was fantastic, I have no doubt about the level of the people inside the dressing room but this is a great answer.”
On the level of performance from his players,
Roberto De Zerbi added: “I am not surprised. I love my players, it is an honour to work here. I am honest when I speak like this, the level of the players is fantastic. Today was my best game as a coach, every day is a pleasure to learn something from them. They are great, great players.”
