Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Keylor Navas has said that the squad are working hard behind the scenes in order to achieve Premier League survival at the end of the season. The Reds are embroiled in a battle against the drop to the Championship, with up to nine clubs still involved in what is a tight bottom half of the table. A poor run of form has now seen Forest fall into the relegation zone. A 2-0 loss against Aston Villa at Villa Park last weekend extended Forest’s winless run to nine league games. They now sit in 18th position in the table, but are only in the bottom three on goal difference. Ahead of the clash, Navas has emphasised the work that is going on on the training pitch in order to turn the season around.

Keylor Navas said: “We are in a tough situation at the moment but we have to learn from our mistakes and try to improve. We work really hard in the week and we are giving our all. Results haven’t been as good as we would have liked, but we are a team, we’re in this together and we all back each other. We’ve still got time to achieve our objectives and get out of this situation.”

Forest are back in action on Sunday when they host Manchester United at the City Ground. Ahead of the game, Navas has outlined the role that the fans can have and the extra motivation that it gives the players in achieving their objectives.

Keylor Navas said: “It’s a really important game this weekend. We’ll be playing at home in front of our fans who are fantastic and we just want to give them something to smile about. Our objective is to keep Nottingham Forest in the Premier League for next season and that’s what we need to have in mind always. If we achieve that then it will bring a huge sense of joy, not just to the players, but most importantly to the fans and everyone at the club.”
