Roy Hodgson says Michael Olise showed what a wonderful player he is during Crystal Palace’s 5-1 victory against Leeds United. Olise played a key role in Palace’s thumping win at Elland Road on Sunday, with Marc Guehi, Eberechi Eze, Odsonne Edouard and two goals from Jordan Ayew securing three vital points. Patrick Bamford put the home side in front after 21 minutes but Palace drew level with Guehi’s equaliser just before half-time. Eagles would then soar to victory with four second-half goals, with Olise setting up three of them. Hodgson has not had a lot of time to work with the 21-year-old since returning as Palace manager following Patrick Vieira’s sacking, but the former England boss has seen enough to predict a “wonderful future” for the youngster.
Roy Hodgson said: “In the second-half he was spot on with everything. In the first-half we didn’t get enough out of him, and we couldn’t bring him into the game as much as we wanted. In the first-half he was a figure on the right but he wasn’t creating chances or showing aggression in his play. In the second-half he got it all right in both defence and attack and he showed what a wonderful player he is. I have seen him for 10 days less than I have seen the others. What I make of him is that I think he is an enormous talent – he has got a great possibility to have a wonderful career and a wonderful future. We can only hope we at Crystal Palace can give him that platform.”
