Jurgen Klopp has admitted Roberto Firmino scoring in Liverpool’s emphatic 7-0 thrashing of Manchester United was the ‘most special moment’ after breaking his silence on the Brazilian’s decision to leave the club. Firmino scored Liverpool’s seventh and final goal against United in an astonishing victory, following on from braces from Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah. His strike earned the biggest cheer of the night, with the Anfield crowd repeatedly serenading him with renditions of his chant, ‘Si Senor’, throughout the game. Speaking after the final whistle, Klopp admitted it wasn’t an easy decision for Firmino to leave the club as he revelled in the reception for the forward received.
Jurgen Klopp said: “Bobby tonight was the most special moment. It was not an easy decision for him. The reception he got was absolutely outstanding. With all the wonderful goals he scored, that’s the goal he pretty much wanted the most.”
Meanwhile, Klopp also lauded Salah after the Egyptian scored his 128th and 129th Premier League goals for Liverpool to first equal and then break Robbie Fowler’s all-time record for the Reds.
Jurgen Klopp said: “Mo Salah achieved tonight something really, really special. We should not forget that just because we are used to him scoring a lot of goals. Very special, very special player, very special boy. Should be really proud of that.”
