In this blog series – “What Happened Today”, we are going to revive some of the moments from past which will revive moments of the golden history of the league.

Tuesday’s papers were discussing Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Manchester City from the previous night, transfer speculation of Liverpool captain Mark Wright after he was left in England as the Reds traveled to Cyprus for European Cup game, injury boost for Everton manager Howard Kendall & Vinnie Jones of Wimbledon was set for a unprecedented punishment after appearing in a controversial video where he admitted to cheating during matches.

Ian Wright scored his sixth goal of the season that helped Arsenal beat Manchester City by a solitary goal. The victory came at a crucial point for the gunners as this was their first victory in six matches.

Liverpool skipper Mark Wright was surprised by the transfer speculation in the media linking him to a move away from the Reds just one season after his move to Anfield from Derby in a deal worth £2.2 million. Wright was staying behind in England as Liverpool flew out for their European Cup clash against Apollon Limassol in Cyprus. Wright was nursing a dead leg that he suffered during Liverpool’s defeat to Wimbledon the previous weekend and the decision to leave him behind sparked stories that the club was ready to offload him.

Everton’s two main strikers Paul Rideout & Mo johns were set to feature for the Toffees’ reserve team against Coventry later that night and the news came as a huge relief for their manager Howard Kendall who was hoping that the pair would be available for selection for their upcoming clash against Oldham Athletic later that week. Another key member of their squad Peter Beardsley was also expected to be fit for the weekend clash making an earlier than expected recovery from his injury. Everton had a mix start to the season where they had only won three of their first 10 games in the premier league.

Wimbledon striker Vinny Jones was facing an unprecedented suspension for promoting a nasty video which glorified violence and cheating in Football. The Wimbledon midfielder was set to be charged with misconduct for his part in a video called “Football’s Hard Men”. In the video Jones talked about the ploys that the hard men use in football which included elbowing the opponents when jumping for headers, treading on their toes when near corners and raking their calves after the ball was gone. the former Leeds, Chelsea and Sheffield United player was set for punishment after the Premier league authorities were done with their investigation.
