Pep Guardiola expects transfer fees to rise in the summer after Chelsea’s monster spending. Guardiola thinks that will happen, but does not expect City to rip up their stringent spending rules that see them refuse to go over their own markers for potential signings.
Pep Guardiola said: “I don’t know what is going to happen in the transfer market. I can imagine but I don’t know. We have to maybe anticipate. What is important is to take good decisions, take the right players when you are going to buy and get them involved in the whole group dynamic that we have built over many years. This is always the intention we have. I don’t know what will happen with prices – I think more expensive than usual but I don’t know. We have done it recently many times – when the club decides it is too much, we don’t take it. I have in my memory four or five players that the clubs negotiated and then we decided it was too much and we didn’t do it.”
