Anthony Gordon believes Eddie Howe is tailor-made to help him develop as a player. Newcastle United supporters have witnessed the 45-year-old transform several outcasts into first-team stalwarts since his appointment as manager. Backlash from his own supporters had dented his confidence but a fresh start awaits the winger at Newcastle. Howe is renowned for his fearless, high-pressing philosophy and Gordon cannot wait to get stuck in.
Anthony Gordon said: “It feels like it’s been in the works (the move) for a while. I know the club were interested in summer. l so I knew all this time they were interested in me. Obviously, over the past week or so it has progressed quickly. It’s been a whirlwind really (but) I couldn’t be happier to be here. I was always convinced Newcastle were for me. The fan base in the city suits me as a person. The way the team are playing under the gaffer suits me and they look like they’re heading in the right direction. Under the gaffer, I think I can really excel while being here. People haven’t seen what I’m capable of yet. It’ll be exciting.”
