Brighton chief executive Paul Barber has claimed that Liverpool are yet to make contact over a move for Moises Caicedo. The Reds have been heavily linked with the Seagulls star over the past few months. Caicedo impressed for Ecuador at the World Cup in Qatar, and continues to be the subject of intense speculation over his future. Various reports have claimed that Liverpool are keen to sign Caicedo, but it remains to be seen whether the Reds will make a move for the player at all, let alone in the January transfer window. And Barber has seemingly confirmed that Brighton are yet to receive any formal interest in the player from Liverpool. Barber has explained that Brighton have not received any offers from any club for Caicedo, with the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea alsop being previously linked. The Brighton chief went on to talk about the midfielder’s potential value in the transfer market.
Paul Barber said: “I’m pleased to say we haven’t had any. Maybe they haven’t got my email because I haven’t seen any. I’m not sure £42m will even include the boots now, maybe just the laces. But joking aside, every player’s value is ultimately determined by the market. Graham’s (Potter) comments were part in jest but part serious because Moises has been an exceptional player for us… Since he came to the Premier League, he has developed all the time. He’s a young man with a great attitude, fantastic work ethic and a very nice human being off the pitch. So all those things contribute to the value of a footballer should it come to that moment to sell.”
