Cameron Archer insists former Aston Villa coach Aaron Danks was key to his move to Championship side Middlesbrough. The 21-year-old was allowed to join Boro this month after struggling for game time this season under Steven Gerrard and then Unai Emery. Archer enjoyed a short loan spell at Preston North End last season and netted seven goals in 20 league appearances.
Though, after playing just six times in the Premier League this term, Championship clubs were queuing up to sign Archer this month. Boro have since won the race and Michael Carrick’s side have boosted their chances of promotion by landing the England Under-21 man. On the move,
Cameron Archer said: “I felt Boro was the best place for my career, for working under the new gaffer you have and Dansky (Aaron Danks) who I know really well. So yeah, I’m looking forward to it. I haven’t had a good start to the season or played many games, so I want to come here, play games and help with the promotion push. When I spoke to him (Carrick) first, he said I am kind of the missing piece they need. So, I am really looking forward to getting out on the training pitch and getting started. It is good to get it done at the start of the window. It is a big club who get loads of fans every week, so I’m really looking forward to playing for them as well.”
