Arsenal have had an excellent start to the season as Mikel Arteta’s side currently top the Premier League table. The holders of the competition Manchester City currently trail the Gunners by five points. The Gunners only suffered one defeat in the first 14 matches of the season. However, questions have arisen on whether Arsenal can maintain their form after the World Cup break. Summer signing Oleksandr Zinchenko has put full faith in the Gunners to be at the top of the table come May. He went on to mention how Arsenal can overcome the tough winter break. Speaking to Arsenal.com about the busy festive period,
Oleksandr Zinchenko said: “What I’ve seen in the past, if you have the right attitude and the right behaviour on and off the pitch, you can’t be tired physically. You can be only tired in the head – everything is coming from your head. If you do all the things right in your routine – your sleep, your food, look after yourself well -and you do everything to prepare your body fresh. If you do everything right, you can’t be tired physically.”
Zinchenko missed large chunks of the first half of the season due to injury. But, he acknowledged the encouragement from Arsenal supporters that has helped him remain focused.
Oleksandr Zinchenko said: “I’m just trying to do my job as well as I can. On the pitch, I am giving my one hundred percent. The fans have welcomed me so warmly at this club. I can’t be grateful enough for everything they have done and the support I’ve received from them.”
The Gunners finished the summer transfer window with just Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah as the forward options going into the season, however, Arsenal’s frontline is now under major scrutiny going into the January window amid a serious knee injury suffered to Jesus during the World Cup. But, Zinchenko has faith that Nketiah will step up in Jesus’ absence.
Oleksandr Zinchenko said: “He’s [Jesus] one of the leaders in our team. He’s a true warrior. I have no doubts he’ll be back much stronger than before, knowing him personally and knowing his character. As a team, we need to stick together. I have no doubts that Nketiah is going to do his job amazingly and everyone trusts him. We have such a great group of people. We have this feeling of togetherness.”
