Brendan Rodgers has established that a new left-back and right-sided winger will be the priorities for Leicester City in the January transfer window.
Brendan Rodgers said: “We’ve a couple of areas we would like to improve and we hope to be able to do that. There’s been plenty of work behind the scenes. Hopefully in January we can improve the depth. It’s clear we’ve lost a number of our full-backs, so we’ll look at the left-back position as an area to improve. And also for an out-and-out winger on the right side is one we will definitely look at. It’s a difficult market but there are always good players you can sign in January. It’s not about signing players, it’s about signing the right one. It was a challenging summer for us. Come January, we’ve looked at that, looked at what we do have available, and we hope to be able to spend wisely.”
City only made two signings in the summer window, despite Rodgers’ hopes for a refresh of his squad. Alex Smithies arrived on a free transfer as third-choice goalkeeper, while Wout Faes was brought in as a replacement for Wesley Fofana at centre-back.
