Manchester United have revealed that they have received enough tickets back to reduce their attendance to 62,000 for next week’s Carabao Cup tie with Burnley. The Reds had appealed for supporters with tickets to come forward for a refund so as to meet the reduced capacity figure. United have now released the following statement to announce that they have seen enough fans take up the option of a refund.
Manchester United said: “Manchester United has now received the relevant number of ticket holder cancellation requests to meet the revised capacity for Wednesday’s game at Old Trafford against Burnley. The option for supporters to cancel their tickets for a full refund is no longer available on the ticketing site. The club is pleased that all fans who wanted to retain their ticket in the areas that are needed to be closed for the match will be allocated a seat in another part of the stadium and those who requested a full refund within the time frame will be contacted by the club to confirm that has been actioned. Again, we apologise to supporters who have been inconvenienced by the reduction in capacity and offer our sincere thanks to those who acted quickly to ensure that fans planning to attend the match will not miss out.”
Next Wednesday’s League Cup tie with the Championship club is the first game United will have played competitively since breaking for the World Cup in November. The winners of the match will progress to the quarter-finals of the competition.
