Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers believes players ‘will be kicking lumps out of each other’ when they return to contact training. Premier League clubs today approved plans to return to contact training after a successful period of group training, beginning last week. It’s believed Premier League clubs will be in contact sessions before the end of this week, and things could get pretty interesting, according to City boss Rodgers.
Brendan Rodgers said “Full contact will be interesting – what happens on that first day., [The players] will be kicking lumps out of each other as they have been restrained for so long. It is about looking forward to the real game and we are maximising this time we have now. It’s movement patterns, it’s non-contact, but there are many exercises you can do which will help develop players. The players hadn’t totally switched off so they’ve come back at a really good level and we’re topping that up and making sure in these first few days there are not too many strains, but we can push them harder than at start of pre-season.
