Bruno Lage has released a statement on social media after he was sacked from his position as Wolverhampton Wanderers manager last week. The Portuguese was relieved of his duties following a slow start to the new Premier League season which saw the Molineux club lose half of their opening eight games and win just once. Lage has since penned an emotional message to the club and its supporters.
Bruno lage said: “I am remarkably honoured to have served Wolverhampton F.C. I am indebted to chairman Guo and Jeff for such opportunity. I am also indebted to every one working at the club for making me feel at home. To the players, for their professionalism and commitment with us. To the supporters, which backed me since the very beginning. We leave behind a successful first season, with many remarkable matches and a record 9 away wins for Wolves in the Premier League. Now, your full support is more important than ever. The team, which never lost a match with a striker in the initial lineup, will surely improve as strikers become available. Diego will be increasingly ready, Raul will help when he’s back, and Sasa will be very important in the future. I’m confident that, within the next 7 matches until the November break, the team will be mid-table and, as of January, aim to the top 7. I will always be rooting for you. Thank you.”
