Wolverhampton Wanderers have released an update on injuries to Raul Jimenez and Hwang Hee-chan. Jimenez has been suffering from a groin injury called pubalgia, which is common in athletes who undertake heavy workloads. Jimenez first noticed the pain in the build-up to Wolves’ match with Southampton on September 3 and he hasn’t been able to play or train properly since. Trying to offer some clarity on Jimenez’s injury, Wolves’ medical team have released a statement with an update on Hwang included.
Wolves said: “As we have disclosed before, Raul has a groin issue. He has had groin problems over the last few years which we have managed, however this time it has been more challenging. He is under the care of our medical team and an external specialist and is making progress. He is still in the rehabilitation phase. The main objective is for us to look after the player’s health before making predictions on exact timings of his return. We have a very good relationship with the Mexican national team medical practitioners who have co-operated with his management in the understanding that Raul is important to both Wolves and Mexico. He joined up with the national team last week to continue with our rehabilitation plan and in order to give him the positive experience of being around the squad preparing for the World Cup. Further updates will follow. Hee Chan returned from international duty with an adductor muscle strain. It is not severe, but he is still being assessed and we will release a further update soon.”
Speaking at his press conference earlier today,
Bruno Lage said: “A lot of people are talking about that and predicting when he will return. It’s better to wait for our medical report to understand what kind of injury he has and what time he has in front of him to recover. He is an important player for us.”
