Erling Haaland has shrugged off the suggestion that he doesn’t touch the ball enough by revealing his dream is to only have five touches in a game but still score five goals. Haaland’s remarkable start to life at Manchester City continued on Wednesday as he grabbed the winner against former club Borussia Dortmund to give his new side the ascendency in Group G of the Champions League. The Norwegian had just 26 touches in the game and some critics have questioned his lack of involvement in matches, but it’s not something that concerns him.
Erling Haaland said: “People might say I don’t touch the ball enough and this and that, but I don’t care about this. I know what I am going to do and what I have to do. That is exactly what I did today in a difficult match and exactly what I will keep doing. My dream is to touch the ball five times and score five goals. That is my biggest dream.”
Haaland showered his old side with praise after their great display in Manchester but was happy to get the goal and secure City the win.
Erling Haaland continued: “Dortmund were really good, one of the best games in my last years I have seen from Dortmund, I have to say. Maybe this game and the PSG game at home, maybe the two best games I have seen. It was tough. It was good for me to help us get the three points with a goal. My job is to score goals, be in the box and wait for the right moment. I have to be focused throughout the whole game and that is my job. My chance came and I took it.”
